Wintering by Katherine May

Brief synopsis:

Wintering is a book which explores our need as humans to rest and recuperate during the difficult moments in our lives; the moments which leave us feeling burned out and defeated. Likening such times to the season of winter the author encourages us to resist the urge to push through, instead allowing ourselves to stop, reflect and heal before moving into our ‘Spring’, just as plants and other animals do as part of the natural cycle of life.  Based on the author’s own experiences Wintering is a beautifully written, tender entreaty to us all to embrace the dark moments and allow ourselves the opportunity for transformation and growth which is part of the ebb and flow of life. In doing so, and sharing our wintering experiences with each other, we change the narrative around the hard times and celebrate the human experience in all its seasons, not just the highlights.
